Cold, cold days.

How's everyone surviving February? Mine sucked, and continues to suck. It's good to have a blog...when you feel crappy you can just write write write write write...until you're just too exhausted to feel crappy anymore. Don't worry, I won't be ranting about how sucky my life is =P. Just going to do a much needed update on what's happening!

First off, I cut my hair short again! Already mentioned this and there was a picture int the last post. I dyed it with GOSH hair dye which was amazing. I used 'darkest brown'

I love this colour!!!
Not sure if you can see, but it's a pretty dark brown
Before (my fading brown hair)
Tada! Looks black, but in different lighting it looks more brown =)
For $8.99, this is AWESOME. But I mean, this is going from light to dark, it would be seriously hard for any brand of dye to screw up a colour like that XD. Nevertheless, I think I would definitely use this for going back to "dark hair" instead of an intense black.

Hmm, what else is there to talk about? Well I got my library challenge books, and the Venom one you saw a few posts back wasn't mine so it doesn't count as my January book. I got 2 Batman comics! Very excited to read those, but my friend has them right now since she ordered them for me with her other stuff. These will be my first DC comics! Will do a library challenge post soon for Jan and Feb.

Ohh, I took my grad pictures on Friday! They uploaded the proofs just now =) I don't know which to pick T-T I think most of them look pretty good thanks to the photographer! So glad he was the patient kind, he didn't rush through it =)! Yeahh, it makes it even tougher to choose only two though -_-" I'll post the worst one then, just for laughs =D...
LOL!! This pose just cracked me up =P
Ah yes, I should also post some pictures of Pearlie's surprise going away party! This was a month ago, but I couldn't post about it since Pearlie took forever to make her announcement...lol.
Of course, all the food was Pearlie favourites <3! Can you guess where Pearlie sat? If the RED CUP didn't give it away, I'm sure the random short round wine glass did....lol =P
We had some champagne for the occasion, but only 4 of us liked it lol.
Pearlie's signature fruit on cheesecake! This party can't get anymore "Pearlie" than this.
Opening presents! I didn't really take much but basically we got her the friendship necklace I showed you here which we all have, and also a travel size blow dryer and straightener set with a little pouch since it's a must have for her to fix her hair tips every morning =D.
Writing goodbye notes for each of us...and complaining a lot about not knowing what to write =P
NOMNOMNOM cake.
Okay and of course giving her all this wasn't enough, so we went ahead and did this too...(all Pearlie's pictures from this point on)
367 love notes for her to read everyday in Korea, including plane rides here and back <3! A great antidote for homesickness, no?
Lastly, let's finish off with Pearlie's food pictures from our Winterlicious lunch and Pickle Barrel birthday lunch! Happy belated birthday to Alx and our friend Oli~

Winterlicious at Joe Maggiano's

Pickle Barrel

Well, that's the last of it...guess I'll stop here. I'm on reading week right now, hopefully I'll have more to blog about =P Bye for now~

Goodbye, Pearlie!

Well this is a very sad post. Our beloved Pearlie is leaving for Korea tomorrow morning! It really sucks to be separated from her for a whole year, but at the same time I can't wait for her to get there and have LOTSA FUN! And of course blog about all of it. =D

Anyway, while she's busy doing some last minute packing, I'll just post of the very last pictures we took together in the past month and a half...won't be seeing any of these for another year =(!

In case you're wondering, we did get a haircut in the last picture...it was also our last haircut together =( =( =(!

Well, that's all...like Pearlie said, nothing is going to change on the blog, besides the fact that Pearlie will have a lot more interesting stuff to blog about compared to me LOL. Let's hope she'll find time to share her life in Korea with us =) Pearlie, have a safe flight and enjoy the next year to the fullest!

Always missing you,

THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT :)

Don't you all just loveee my all-caps and creative title for this post? ;)
Anyway, I believe it's finally time to write about what I have been "busy" with for the last few months. And I'll try to keep this short because I know how boring this post will be without any interesting pictures at all. :P

Well, around four months ago (approximately?) I started the crazy long process of applying to work as an ESL teacher in South Korea. It was a tedious process that started with the filling out of a 13-page long application form, which included an essay. Then, after an initial screening of my application form, I had to schedule for a phone interview. After I passed the interview, I had to Fed-Ex (not cheap!) them a bunch of documents, which cost a lot as well. (FYI, I started gathering these documents before I even emailed them my application because these documents take forever, kinda.) Next, after they receive my package of documents, the waiting game started. I had to wait, wait and wait some more until I get a reply for whether or not I actually got this job. (Doesn't it sound terrible? After spending lots for the documents and everything, I'm still not sure if I've gotten the job yet ><")

BUT I was eventually notified at the beginning of January that I've got placed at one of the metropolitan cities in South Korea and that I'll have to leave by mid-February for a 10-day orientation. I swear I felt like tearing up after I knew that I got the job because everyone around me saw how stressed out I was with this whole process. And it doesn't end right here. After I knew I was hired, I had to wait for the temporary contract to be mailed to me and then I need to take it and apply for a working visa, which took another few days for them to process it. And finally, the long process seems to be finished.

So now, what's the BIG announcement you may think. Hmmm...if you couldn't already tell by the above blurb, I'M LEAVING FOR SOUTH KOREA IN 6 DAYS, that's all. No biggie, right? Well, it might seem like nothing much to some of you, but it's a rather big deal for me and San (whom I'm forcing to come visit me LOL). Oh and guess what? I'm still busy packing my luggages right now as I'm typing this up -__-"

So yeah, there you have it. That's the so-called big news. Wish me luck! :D
P.S. There won't be any changes to this blog after I leave for South Korea, this means that both of us will still be posting here. Oh and hopefully, I'll be more consistent in posting because even random pictures shall be interesting when I'm in Korea? LOL :P

Estee Lauder and MAC Warehouse Sale (Part 2): Makeup Haul

I know this took foreverrrrrrrr, but I'm finally done with this post about the makeup products that I purchased at the Estee Lauder and MAC warehouse sale (Uhh..the sale I went to was like from last year LOL). So, let's cut the intro short and get on with the haul! :)

The first makeup related item that I picked up at the sale was a MAC Beauty Powder. I found this peachy-coral colour with gold shimmers to be sooooo pretty (after I tried many different shades at their sampling tables xD)...so I decided to get this one and its called "Shell Pearl". I got it at the sale for CAD$15, but it probably retails for approx. US$25 I think?
LOL...I took a picture of the case to show you how boring it looks :P
And here's the actual product..but I think this photo makes the powder looks way darker than it actually is -__-"
Here's a better picture and to me this seems more like the actual shade of colour...oh and you can see the gold shimmers here too! :)

At this huge sampling table, I also tried on different shades of loose powder by MAC and I really wasn't sure what shade would suit me....but in the end I picked up one of their lighter shades NC20 for CAD$15 (retails for approx. US$23).
Yup...here's the "amazing" box of the loose powder! :P
According to MAC, their Select Sheer/Loose Powder is translucent, featherlight, ultra-fine, sublimely silky and provides a sheer and micro-fine finish. Also, they claim that using this powder will matte the skin while keeping its natural glow as if one's skin is almost naked-looking. (If that sounds funny...it's not my fault. I found the description on MAC's site here and I'm just trying to paraphrase LOL :P)
LOL...this is for those who are interested in seeing the actual container of the powder xD

Other than the above powder foundation, I also wanted to buy some kind of liquid foundation because at the time of the sale (which was quite a while ago) I only had one bottle of BB Cream to use as foundation. And if you're wondering why I only have ONE bottle? Well, I actually had other liquid foundations but they were really bad in my opinion and they're getting old...so I threw them away :)

So at the sale, I found Clinique's Supermoisture Makeup Foundation for CAD$10 (retails for approx. US$24).
I got the Clinique Supermoisture Makeup in shade 01 "Pure Porcelain".
Clinique describes this liquid foundation as an "ultra-creamy yet refreshingly lightweight make-up that helps with flaw-fixing, acting as an undercover moisture agent for a dewy look." It should also help with disguising unevenness on one's skin and can instantly comfort those with drier skin types (suitable for "very cry to dry" or "dry combination" skin types). Thus, one's skin should look soft and radiant all day long. (This info is from Clinique's site.)

At the sale, I also picked up a set of brushes from MAC. It's from their 2010 holiday collection, A Tartan Tale. The set of brushes I bought is the Sweep Me Off My Feet Sweep & Define Brush Collection and it consists of 129SE (Powder/Blush), 190SE (Foundation), 212SE (Flat Definer), 227SE (Large Fluff) and 275SE (Medium Angled Shading). I got this for CAD$25, which is quite a good deal since it was originally sold for US$49.50.
Isn't the box pretty with the tartan pattern?
These brushes come in a shiny black and gold handle. And their size is perfect for travelling! :)
This is the bag that it also comes with and it's very cute! But, I'm not sure what I'm using it for yet.
Finally, after paying at the sale we got a free gift on our way out and it was this bluish MAC Eyeshadow called Haunting and it retails for approx. US$15.

Anddddd I swatched three of these products for you to see how it looks on my skin:
If you're wondering why I've only made swatches of 3 and not all 4 of the products, well it's because the loose powder doesn't really show up after I put it on, so there's no point in doing it :P
Anyway, I'M SO SORRY that I've been MIA for so soo soooo long (if you guys still remember who I am that is LOL). And my next post shall be here very very soon and it will be the "BIG" announcement that San's been asking me to post about for a while now ><". So, bear with me and wait for it xD
