Alive and Well?

No, I'm not dead and neither is Pearlie. What is dead however, is my laptop! Argh. Seriously, the WORST time for it to die...I need it to do my assignments! SO STRESSED OUT. And I'm so behind in blogging, I knowwwwww! Pearlie is doing great though, she's got 2 jobs and a new offer on the way~! WOOHOO PEARLIE. Well, those are the details I know so far, I'm sure she'll clarify eventually.

Which reminds me, I really should find myself a part time job too -_-". But I'm worried if I do, it'll be a distraction for me and I REALLY don't need that this year, since I have to do a thesis/research thing...T-T. WHAT TO DOOOOOOOOOO?

Anyway, will come back when my laptop is fixed, meanwhile I'll let Pearlie take over (oh no, our blog is going to be dead...LOL!! Just kidding Pearlie, I have faith in you!)

Hot September.

I am sweating while typing this -_-". WHY is it so freaking hot? Geez. Well, tomorrow is my second day of class (lol, feeling like a part time student right now hahaha), and I'm not looking forward to the rain + heat! School's been okay so far (hard to tell with just 1 day of class so far LOL). I survived the 6 hours of non-stop classes last Friday. THANK GOD there were friends who were there to keep me company! Not so lucky for tomorrow's class though, it's outside of my major =(.

Oh yes, before I forget...happy mooncake day (aka autumn festival)! I feel so stuffed from the mooncakes and fruits...good thing I can sleep in since class doesn't start until 4:30 tomorrow XD.

MMMmmm another thing, I'd like to apologize to those who gave us blog awards ><"! We're sloowly making our way through the questions. Plus, joint posts usually take us forever to finish lol. BUT, thanks for giving us those awards, we're not snobby girls who are ignoring you...just lazy bums who fuss too much over what to write for stuff like that XD.

Finally, I am back! Wow, it's been the longest two weeks EVER. I'm exhausted =(. But, I am now (temporarily) done with school stuff, so I can finally relax. Whew. Anyway I felt bad for neglecting the blog for so long, and wanted to make a decent post but I have nothing to blog about! Sucks. Well, at least in a day or two, my reading week officially starts, which means I'll actually be doing something besides studying. Finally, I'll have SOMETHING to blog about XD. Sooo...I guess this post will just be me going blah blah blah. How boring, I know. -_-"

Oh yeah, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE participate in Pearlie's research study! Laziness kicks in.

BLEH. I hate January. I sat in class today 15 minutes before it started and thought, "CLASS STINKS SO BADLY I WANNA CRY." Yeah and that's before it even started. ARGGH. It just feels so pooey to have to go to school. And it's starting to snow again now that school is starting. WHY T-T? Anyway, I must apologize for not posting. I had all my pictures on my camera (including the ones Pearlie and I took for the new banner I'm suppose to have made by now), but whenever I sit down in front of my laptop or desktop, my camera is always somewhere far from me. And I'm too damn lazy to get off my arse and get it XD. Soooooo...I still have a ton of pictures to transfer and blog about...including my date with Pearlie~! We finally went shopping and I bought something I've eyed for the longest time, but I shall leave it at that (ooooh, the suspense). Err, haven't had a chance to exchange SS gifts (WAHHHHH) but hopefully that'll happen next week =). I apparently have another late Christmas gift I should be expecting any time this week, so I'm sure when I get it, I'll be snapping pictures like a mad woman again. Hmm...ah yes, went to pick up 2 Hot Toys Iron Man figures from the second movie (of course, neither of them are not mine hahaha) so I shall try to nag D to take some shots of those. OHMIGAWD the aDDiction blog is so dead. Might move it to Wordpress or even Blogger, since we've been getting  spam and stuff on FC2.

So that pretty much sums up anything that WILL be happening on the blog soon. I know everyone makes those New Year resolutions or "reflecting on 2010" posts, but I decided not to. Why? Because:

1) I never do what I say I'll do. NEEEEVER. So NY resolutions are quite pointless. I just keep doin' what I do.
2) I don't remember anything in 2010 prior to my birthday worth mentioning if I make a reflection post.
Most importantly...the time it takes to write either of those posts would be precious drama-watching time! LOL

Okay, clearly this is gettng too long, I must get back to my shows. BUB-BYEEEEEEE.

No. 1 Obsession.

You'd think a girl's number one obsession would be shoes. Or even bags, clothes, etc. Or if you're a nerdy one, it would be manga, video games, figurines, blah blah. But mine is pretty strange. POUCHES. And I know, some of you are like, "uhhh, I use lots of pouches too...for bags that don't have enough compartments right?" Err, not quite. Let me break it down for you:

Here is my school bag. I chose this as an example because it's one of the few that fit everything but doesn't kill my shoulder. Look, it's smiling at you!

A much needed break!

...not a break from the.red.bow, but a break from school! Nice to know I can rest now. I finished my last exam yesterday morning, but last night I was still dreaming about stuff I've been studying over the past two weeks...LOL. Well, I've been taking quite a few pictures of some interesting things (to me at least), so I'll definitely be posting up stuff in the next two weeks...ARGH I DON'T WANT SCHOOL TO START SO EARLY....EFFFFFFFF WHYYYYYYY T-T

*Ahem* anyway. My brain is still so much in school mode that I felt the need to write a point form list of what type of posts I will be writing during the holidays...gawd, I feel like such a loser:

• I've FINALLY taken pictures of my birthday gifts (wahahaha...it was 2 months ago XD) and I don't plan on posting pictures from my birthday get together with my girlfriends anymore...I'm too lazy to go gather pictures from facebook ><. 
• Anddd, I went shopping after my exam yesterday for headbands! I bought 5...it was on sale so might as well XD one of them was an usamimi headband (bunny headband) which I've wanted for soooo long! Definitely posting pictures of those...so my secret santa won't buy me duplicates =P. 
• Ummmmm, I also have an idea for an "extreme obsession" post, so hopefully that'll be a fun read for you guys. 
• Oh yes, and there'll be another hair dye post XD. But not something to review about because I'm just dying my hair black to fit the season (my hair feels so summery right now, kinda weird o.O). 
• Depending on what I get for Christmas, I might write something on that....or at least one on the food I'll be cooking (with my brother!) for the 25th. Not that I can't do it myself....because I toooootally planned/prepared the Thanksgiving dinner on my own XD NOT BRAGGING OR ANYTHING....JUST SAYING....XDDDDD. 

 Hopefully something interesting happens besides what I have planned so far (which is next to nothing) so I have more to blog about. Hahaha. And one LAAAAST thing...Pearlie's last exam is TOMORROW! Wish her luck! And pray that she won't die from the stress! Because if she dies, then I'll need to find another date for Monday. Lol, just kidding Pearlie <3

Took a selca for the first time on my cellphone today. It's nothing special (and quite ugly IMO lol) but I felt like sharing it because it reminds me of a vampire. My phone camera drained my blood. LOL

Christmas is coming~

Hurray it's almost Christmas! It's funny how excited I sound right now, because I usually don't care much for it. LOL XD. I don't care about the gifts, the food, and I hate the weather. I don't go to parties and the tree is a pain to put up...NO ONE HELPS ME T-T. But I think I'm all giddy right now because I've finally switched carriers and I don't have to freak out about the phone bill anymore~

I must say, this new carrier is pretty close to awesome. I didn't get the phone I was originally gonna get (if you must know, it was the LG dlite aka LG Lollipop (first one). It's cute and all but when I read that I can only store up to 2 phone numbers per contact I knew I couldn't live with that. I got so used to my organized contact list with 3-5 numbers per person, their email addresses, and I even make notes about each person to remind me of when they're reachable or whatever. That would be all gone x____x. So I picked another phone. At first I was a bit guilty because I picked one that was one of the more expensive ones out of the list of phones they offered....but then when I went into the store the guy said "heeeeey I'll put you on the tab...stay with us longer and your phone gets cheaper over time." AWESOMES. I paid $150 less for the phone, and I just need to stay with them for TEN MONTHS...$25 a month too! I get unlimited calling/texting btw. Wooooo. Anyhoo, I won't reveal what phone I have here, it's nothing to brag about (seriously, it's not lol). And did I mention they are letting me use 3G without having to pay data fees? I couldn't sleep last night because I saw 3G on the top, and I thought, SHIT they are charging me for data aren't they....omgomgomg. I went on live chat help at 8am this morning and they told me I'm not. LOL. At my old carrier, they charge you for the 3G data usage. ALL THE TIME. I had to enable the "use 2G networks only" option and switch to 3G only when I need to go on the internet. Geeeeez.

Oooookay I've wasted enough space...but I swear that marks the end of my cell phone miseries/stories/rants whateverelseyouwanancallit.
Now, on to my Christmas post!!!

Oh wow, I have been so blind. If you bothered to read our "About Us" page, you'll notice that one of the things I said about myself is that I LOVE to keep up with new cell phones. OH GAWD THE CONSEQUENCES ARE KILLING ME NOW. Well, it's just that I didn't notice it until now. I saw an ad for a cheap phone with a cheap phone plan recently and it got me thinking. So I sat down and did some calculations...

Here's what I'm currently using/paying for:
-a smart phone at "some cell phone carrier" that happens to be one of the more well known ones.
>>price?
-------approx. $70 per month for data plan + add ons (caller ID, etc)

If I "downgrade":
-a crappy phone at a newer and "lesser" phone carrier.
>>price?
-------phone = $140, plan = $25 per month

LET'S SEE...in one year, I spend about $950 (HOLY that's almost a thousand bucks....AHHHH) at this "well known carrier" and this is minus the price of my phone, which I don't even want to mention o___o. If I bought the crappier phone AND used their plan for a year I save a crap load, and I can talk and text LIKE A MAD WOMAN. And never overuse anything. JEEEEZ that is so awesomezzzzz.zzz.z.

My Kagrra, story.

This is quite a depressing post. I recently found out my favourite Jrock band is disbanding (they like to call it their "demise" instead of disbanding, which is weird lol) so  I decided to dedicate this post to them.

Just a bit of background info on them based on my memory. Not going into too much detail, you can just google them for more info... (all Kanji characters copied from various jrock forums lol)

Kagrra, pronounced 'kagura' 神樂, is a neo-japanesque rock band that mixes traditional Japanese lyrics and music with rock into their songs. They started out around 2001 (prior to this, they were known as CROW) as an indies rock band. They were classified as 'Visual Kei' in their early days, but later shifted away from that. Even though they toned down on their appearance, they still maintained a hint of traditional Japanese style throughout their career.

The band consists of five members. Isshi (一志) the lead vocalist, Akiya (楓弥) the guitarist, Shin (真) the second guitarist (also plays the koto), Nao (女雅) the bassist and Izumi (白水) the drummer.

My Kagrra, story...
It started in 2005, late October/early November. My brother went on a trip overseas so I had his computer all to myself, which meant faster downloads! Woohoo!
At the time, I was really into mp3 rotation sites. They were sites where people post around 5 random songs per week for download. On one particular site, all the songs that week were Jrock/Krock which I NEVER listen to. But, I was curious (and there was nothing interesting to download that week) so I gave it a try. Kagrra,'s Satsuki (their newest song at that time) was among them.

My mp3 player back then was suuuper old. It was this USB stick thing that only had a wheel at the top to change tracks/volume and a light that was green when on, and red when battery was low. Lol it was so ugly...XD
Anyway, I was in bed listening to this thing. When suddenly Satsuki started playing. My first reaction was.....
"WTH? This is SO WEIRD....what IS that? A guy singing? A manly girl? Whaaaaaaaaat, I'm confused..."
Yep. I really didn't like it at first. It was so strange. Probably because I was expecting it to be very Jrock, which it wasn't. But it definitely wasn't Jpop either. It was such a bizarre style. I definitely wasn't used to it.

So I just took it off my mp3 player and ignored it for a couple days. Among the songs I downloaded was also The Trax, which is a Krock group (at that time anyway). They definitely had that 'heavy' sound to them. The song 'Paradox' was pretty...crazy. I didn't like it either -_-"

But one night, while I was lying on my brother's bed waiting for shows to download, I started listening to Paradox again. I become so engrossed by it. I wasn't really trying to make sense of the song I usually do...I was just listening to the music. The vocals, the guitar, the drum and bass. And I somehow enjoyed it. I don't know how or why...but it grew on me. At this point, I was still ignoring the Kagrra, song that I downloaded. I was somewhat into The Trax now though XD.

I started searching online for various songs that were similar in style. I don't know how this happened, but I stumbled upon the PSCompany site for Kagrra,! The name didn't ring a bell at first. I just saw how pretty their homepage was so I navigated through it. They had the promotional layout for the San album at the time...(Friends, do you recognize that SYMBOL ON THE GIRL'S ARM??)

It wasn't until the Satsuki chorus began playing in the background when I realized who it was. The forgotten song in my mp3 stash! Let me tell you, it sounded like a completely different song this time. It was an upbeat song that was incredibly soothing at the same time. Everytime I listen to it, it feels like I'm in some far away place surrounded by beautiful green grass and a gorgeous view of the mountains. I was so in love with the song after hearing 30 seconds of it on the site. And so, my love for Kagrra, grew.

Did I mention the artwork for their albums/concert DVDs/etc. were always BEAUTIFUL?!

I went and dug up every single song by Kagrra, soon after. There were A LOT. And let me tell you, I listened and loved every single one of them. I always picture each song telling a different story (which I will not tell you because some are pretty embarrassing lol).

It was quite an experience. I fell asleep and woke up at 2am to watch it. I always found Kotodama to be one of their scarier songs...and the video was pretty creepy (partially because I was alone in a dark room and everyone else was asleep already). They were still very Visual Kei back then, so their make up was nuts. The video was very dark...almost felt like a Japanese horror movie. But the traditional ones with demons and all that. It gave me nightmares...hahahaha.

This band really opened up the Jrock genre to me (i.e. Alice Nine and The GazettE) and I think their music really changed me. In a way, my encounter with Kagrra,'s music is what made me into the me today, so it's definitely sad knowing that they won't be around much longer...

Anyway that concludes my Kagrra, story. Their last album will be released in January 2010 and their last tour will end in March. The saddest part is that I won't be able to see them perform as a group. Now, watching all their old videos and listening to their music makes me tear up. I'm going to miss them so much...

Alien or Predator?

Dear reader. This post is not for those who can't take somewhat scary and possibly nightmarish images of alien creatures. Consider yourself warned!

So last Friday I watched Aliens. The day before that, I saw Predator (instead of doing my readings, heehee). Today I felt like writing a post on both of these nasty yet cool looking...things. So enjoy =D

Honestly, last week was the FIRST time I watched both movies from beginning to end. The first time I saw these two creatures (and learned about them) was through the first AVP (Alien vs. Predator) movie. Yeah okay I see you rolling your eyes saying what a sucky movie it was. I DON'T CARE...it was cool to watch aliens fighting each other. And it was especially satisfying to see humans feel completely insignificant in comparison =D. That's probably why I really liked both the original films even more...both sort of started out with people underestimating their opponents...and then they end up running away screaming for their lives while they get killed off one by one. In the craziest ways possible. WEEE~

Don't misunderstand. I do not like scary horror films where people die. In fact, I got scared watching that crappy teen horror movie with Paris Hilton in it. OMG how embarrassing to admit that to you all T_T. But it's true...it's veeery easy to scare me. Yet, I find myself drawn to sci-fi horror movies...especially when a super-powerful-scary alien is involved. Maybe because I know it's less likely for one of those things to be hiding under my bed rather than a serial killer who loves making wax figures. Oops, getting off topic here...

Anyway. Let's move on and talk about the Predators first. I sort of favour them over Aliens because they're more technologically advanced, and have a super cool mask. But I never really liked how Predators looked under the mask...

Predator's face reminds me so much of those damn annoying head crabs from Half Life. Yeah I know...the Alien facehugger is more related to the head crabs from HL, but I still think the Predator's mouth (when open) looks like a head crab lunging at your face. And another thing...even though the invisible armour is really cool and I love the claw-like weapon, the self destruct bomb felt really cheap to me. Just like how I hate self-destruct moves in Pokemon. It feels so, "I DON'T LOSE. IF I DO, YOU WON'T WIN EITHER." I guess some people consider that smart, but mehh. I don't really like it >___>

Okay let's stop talking about Predator for a while. What about the Alien? I kinda like that "little head inside the head" thing. It's SO ugly...but it's also unexpected, so it works with the whole scary alien idea. ^_^ Even though they don't have all that fancy technology like the Predators do, the acid saliva/blood stuff sort of like the Predator's self destruct bomb...even if the Alien loses a fight, they still kill/injure their opponent. At close range at least. Like when those guys tried to blow off the Alien's head in the movie, the acid got on them and they were meeeeelting.That's sooo cheating (but still cool to watch) XD!! And I dunno....the shape of the Alien looks like a gigantic bug. T_T. Creepy.

From what I've said about them up to this point, it doesn't really feel like I like them right? Well...I can't explain it either, but I guess there's something about ugly aliens that appeal to me. KFC Double Down in Canada - A [funny] food review.

Why hello again. First, I'd like to bring everyone's attentiont to my title. You should keep the words "funny" and "review" in mind. In other words, this is my way of making this looooong post more interesting and fun to read through, especially if you hate reading. And hey, the review part should be quite obvious...personal opinion. Oh and by the way, if the veeeery last picture doesn't give away the point of my post, let me tell it to you straight:

I never thought I'd do food reviews, it was never really my thing. This might actually be the first and last food review I ever do o.O. Anyway, I just HAD to write about the Double Down. I felt that it is my duty to inform fellow Canadians about this...I don't know what to call it.

What is a KFC Double Down?

Well, basically it's this new temporary item added to the Kentucky Fried Chicken menu in Canada. Basically it's two slices of their chicken acting as the "bun" part of a burger, and the filling consists of cheese and bacon. Heart attack, no?

Well, when I saw the KFC Double down commercials on T.V. I sorta knew I had to try it. It just looked so...interesting. YES it's fast food which is fattening and bad for us, but hey, it's not like I eat this day in and day out. I CAN DEAL WITH A FEW EXTRA CALORIES. For one day at least.

So I made a deal with my stomach, where I stop myself from trying this until after my last mid term/assignment is done with, because I get a sore throat when I eat too much fried food. The day of my last mid term came, and I begged my mom to buy it home for me for lunch.

Here I am, sitting in front of the takeout KFC box. It smells of KFC yummmmmm. "Ah San, it costs $6.99 for that thing." OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS. I just stared at my mom after she said that. Apparently the combo is $8 or $8.99. Holy shiz, this thing better taste like heaven.

So I open the box and my jaw completely dropped to the ground. The size of the top (and bottom) slice of chicken is the size of my palm, if not EVER SO SLIGHTLY bigger. WHAT THE EFF?! And I thought McDonald's was a rip off. Sheesh!

About the same size as an onigiri I bought from supermarket...and the onigiri was 2 for $2.50!

I grabbed the knife to cut the Double Down in half. I laughed as I pictured my brother's horrified reaction to this thing. We were suppose to share one, because he said I'd never finish one huge Double Down. Hahaha...

How does it taste?

You know what, I can't even tell you how long it took me to eat half of it. IT. IS. SO. DAMN. SALTY. I think something went wrong with the bacon stage, because the chicken tastes fine (surprisingly, it was not salty compared to usual KFC chicken) and the cheese tasted fine too I think, but the bacon grease sort of fused into the melty cheese, so I don't know if the cheese was actually salty on its own or not. Anywayyyyyy.
For every bite I took, I drank half a cup of water. And I'm telling you now, I usually don't drink much liquid when I eat. The saltiness and greasiness of the Double Down is just outrageous to me. Compared to this, the Big Mac is like, eating a salad or something. Now, keep in mind this is how it FELT like to me, so for all you critics out there, I don't know (or care) about which one is actually healthier.

My verdict?

I'm glad I tried it. It completely wiped out any other fast food cravings I have. But I have only one message to all Canadians out there: DON'T EAT THIS THING. Let those cravings pass over you. Seriously. If you really want to try two chickens and some cheese/bacon, make your own, damnit! Unless you really want to of course, but don't say I haven't warned you...x____x

This is the one time I'm blogging not because I feel like it, but rather, the boy does. Oh wait, he prefers to be called RNman now...lolllll (Alex, you know who RNman is now~). I can't really picture myself referring to him as Iron Man in all my posts...so uhh...yeah. XD

Oh yeah, I stopped wearing foundation lately, it just felt too nasty and cakey. I'm sticking with just concealing the under eye circles...hahaha. You probably notice how you can see my freckles more clearly now...T^T. Oh welllllll.....=/

Ugh. Disgustingly boring summer. HATE IT. Let me post all the random pictures I was too lazy to post over the past couple of weeks...

Who is the fairest one of all? I wouldn't be surprised if it's Pearlie. Have you seen her legs? They reflect light to a point where you need to wear sunglasses when looking at them. (Yeah I know that's not the "fair" the shirt refers to LOL)

HER bag: Matt&Nat wallet, Banana Republic prescription glasses, shades, HTC phone, cute keychains w/ keys (lol), flowery pouch with something in it (I'm guessing contact solution/case), green pouch with a lot of face/beauty stuff inside (A LOT!!), tissue.

MY bag: Domo-kun coin pouch, white cherries pouch for female essentials (YOU think of a better term for it), Westwood wallet, LipIce + random lipgloss, shades, keys that aren't cute like Pearlie's, HTC phone, other pouch for essentials (tissue, mirror, eyedrops, medicine)

My hair looked really cool like that.

"I LOVE lipstick. So much that I have to take a picture of myself applying it in the most seductive way possible and post it on my Facebook profile picture because I look SOOO hot when my face looks like a monkey's ass." I think only a few of you know who I'm making fun of here ;)

In reality, this is what girls look like when they apply lipstick. Not so seductive now are we, gentlemen? Fiiine, I guess I can't speak for every girl out there, but at least this is how I apply lipstick. I can't help it, lipstick makes me giggly. HEE HEEE.

Mikayla

Just testing this mobile app with a random (and much needed) post. Mikayla is on her way! I was telling Pearlie the other day how I'm going to make my own pair of sandals just like this flower one so I can match her. I'm so excited =) things are slow lately, too much school work! I hate summer school. I think I failed my test today, and the questions were take home too! FML. Anyway I need my nap so I'll post more interesting stuff next time.
