Photo Diary - entry four.

AH MAN it's been a while. Too much stuff happened lately and I'm glad I've gotten some motivation to blog again. At least now I can say the ONLY thing keeping me from blogging is that I have school work. Ask me why I don't blog a week ago and I'd give you a really emo reply.

Anyway, on to some pictures =)

Home made! From a sweet friend on V-day =)
NOMNOMNOM I want more already.
I love my evil cat.
Why does 2 shirts and 6 makeup items cost over $50? Canada today sucks T-T!
Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush! SO CUTE =)
Can't wait to try this...Maybelline 24hr cream shadow (eye tattoo?) in Tough as Taupe.
Hard Candy bronzer/highlighter duo...my friend's purchase. Tried to swatch it and it looked quite nice on her! Considering it now....lol
Sorry it was mostly make up, I really only documented what I did today when I went shopping. The rest of my days are spent at home doing work so there was nothing to take pictures of LOL. My books are here but I lent them to someone! Will have a long overdue library challenge post sometime soon, I promise.

Bye for nowwwww

February 20, 2012

Cold, cold days.

How's everyone surviving February? Mine sucked, and continues to suck. It's good to have a blog...when you feel crappy you can just write write write write write...until you're just too exhausted to feel crappy anymore. Don't worry, I won't be ranting about how sucky my life is =P. Just going to do a much needed update on what's happening!

First off, I cut my hair short again! Already mentioned this and there was a picture int the last post. I dyed it with GOSH hair dye which was amazing. I used 'darkest brown'

I love this colour!!!
Not sure if you can see, but it's a pretty dark brown
Before (my fading brown hair)
Tada! Looks black, but in different lighting it looks more brown =)
For $8.99, this is AWESOME. But I mean, this is going from light to dark, it would be seriously hard for any brand of dye to screw up a colour like that XD. Nevertheless, I think I would definitely use this for going back to "dark hair" instead of an intense black.

Hmm, what else is there to talk about? Well I got my library challenge books, and the Venom one you saw a few posts back wasn't mine so it doesn't count as my January book. I got 2 Batman comics! Very excited to read those, but my friend has them right now since she ordered them for me with her other stuff. These will be my first DC comics! Will do a library challenge post soon for Jan and Feb.

Ohh, I took my grad pictures on Friday! They uploaded the proofs just now =) I don't know which to pick T-T I think most of them look pretty good thanks to the photographer! So glad he was the patient kind, he didn't rush through it =)! Yeahh, it makes it even tougher to choose only two though -_-" I'll post the worst one then, just for laughs =D...
LOL!! This pose just cracked me up =P
Ah yes, I should also post some pictures of Pearlie's surprise going away party! This was a month ago, but I couldn't post about it since Pearlie took forever to make her announcement...lol.
Of course, all the food was Pearlie favourites <3! Can you guess where Pearlie sat? If the RED CUP didn't give it away, I'm sure the random short round wine glass did....lol =P
We had some champagne for the occasion, but only 4 of us liked it lol.
Pearlie's signature fruit on cheesecake! This party can't get anymore "Pearlie" than this.
Opening presents! I didn't really take much but basically we got her the friendship necklace I showed you here which we all have, and also a travel size blow dryer and straightener set with a little pouch since it's a must have for her to fix her hair tips every morning =D.
Writing goodbye notes for each of us...and complaining a lot about not knowing what to write =P
NOMNOMNOM cake.
Okay and of course giving her all this wasn't enough, so we went ahead and did this too...(all Pearlie's pictures from this point on)
367 love notes for her to read everyday in Korea, including plane rides here and back <3! A great antidote for homesickness, no?
Lastly, let's finish off with Pearlie's food pictures from our Winterlicious lunch and Pickle Barrel birthday lunch! Happy belated birthday to Alx and our friend Oli~

Winterlicious at Joe Maggiano's

Pickle Barrel

Well, that's the last of it...guess I'll stop here. I'm on reading week right now, hopefully I'll have more to blog about =P Bye for now~

January 2, 2012

Great way to end the year.

Hello and happy new year, everyone =)! I'm so sad I'm going back to school tomorrow -_-" *sigh* well, there's no escaping it. Anyway, it was great to end 2011 with my girlfriends...fondue party and sleepover! YAY!

First up, cheese fondue. YUM! The alcohol taste was way too strong though, it totally overpowered the cheese. But I never realized how GOOD hot and thick cheese tastes with broccoli and cold ham....MMMMmmmmm!
And we also had chocolate fondue! THIS WAS THE BEST. Sooo good. Definitely buying the set again (it came with 2 types of chocolate and a bunch of toppings).
Alx brought her makeup train case! We had lots of fun with these...=D!
Lots of yum snacks and some retro games at 4am.
After we finished the chocolate fondue we tried to roast the marshmallows with candles...LOL how silly are we?
Here's a special treat for you guys. Alien head Pearlie!
And that's all we have from that night. I was the first to jump into bed, I'm getting old LOL. I seriously regret not taking a picture of our sleeping area that I set up. Imagine 6 girls squeezed into 2 airbeds and 3 tiny sofa mats (somehow Pearlie managed to not fall off those mats hahaha)! Anyway, I'm going to stop writing now, need to get ready for tomorrow...stupidly long 6 hours of school -_-". Goodnight!

Bee Bee Queue See Son...Summer Time!

Can you string all those unrelated words above together to figure out what I'm talking about? It's foodie time! Woohoo! I had BBQ after leaving AN2011 and I said I'd talk about that  last time...but there's not much to talk about since I was too busy eating rather than taking pictures of the food XD.

Basically we started out making this:

Frappuccino Happy Hour :)

This is another short post I'm making to let everyone know (if you don't already) that at various locations of Starbucks in Canada, they are having their "Frappuccino Happy Hour" event! From May 6th to May 15th (which mean it started already :D) between 3-5 p.m., you can get Frappuccino blended beverages for half price at participating stores! :)

Also, their Frappuccino beverages are customizable so you can order it in a variety of different flavours with extra coffee or decaf, milk or soy and you can also choose to top it off with syrup, whipped cream or nothing at all. (Click here to learn more!)

Here's a picture of the fraps that me, my sister and my mom had today! xD
My favourite is the green tea frappuccino! :)
And lastly, I would like to wish all the beautiful mothers out there a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

San's Favourite Foodies - Asian Edition part 1

I was bored from doing (trying to do) my course paper when I decided to it's time for an update! I couldn't think of what to talk about, since so far most of the pictures I've taken with my camera are of Mister D....hahaha XD. For some reason, lately I've been CRAVING  a lot of different dishes that I've had in the past and loved...so why not make a fav foodies post? (I know it must seem horrible that they're all Asian dishes only...obviously I love other dishes, it's just that if I include EVERYTHING I don't think I'll ever finish this post in time to sleep XD!)

Here they are, part one of my 'favourite dishes' list in no particular order...

1. Bun Rieu (Vietnamese crab noodle soup)
You know how at hot pot/shabu shabu, you're presented with a dozen different sauces to mix for your food? Well, this one time, I noticed a new sauce my sister bought with a huge crab on it. It looked a bit scary, because it's like, reddish orange. And of course, we all associate red/orange coloured sauce with SPICY. Soooo I was hesitant in trying it, but damn did it smell good. I gave it a try and OMIGAWD it's so good!! Fell in love with the sauce. Today, I continue to keep a jar of crab paste as part of our collection of Asian sauces in the kitchen.

...you can imagine what happened when I found out they made NOODLE SOUP with this stuff (or based on the flavour of it at least!).

KFC Double Down in Canada - A [funny] food review.

*EDIT*
Why hello again. First, I'd like to bring everyone's attentiont to my title. You should keep the words "funny" and "review" in mind. In other words, this is my way of making this looooong post more interesting and fun to read through, especially if you hate reading. And hey, the review part should be quite obvious...personal opinion. Oh and by the way, if the veeeery last picture doesn't give away the point of my post, let me tell it to you straight:
Double down = small + expensive + not as tasty as the flyer makes it look (power of deceiving ads)
And guess what? Tasty = San's idea of tasty, and ONLY San's idea of tasty. Okay, you can enjoy my article now =)

I never thought I'd do food reviews, it was never really my thing. This might actually be the first and last food review I ever do o.O. Anyway, I just HAD to write about the Double Down. I felt that it is my duty to inform fellow Canadians about this...I don't know what to call it.

What is a KFC Double Down?
Well, basically it's this new temporary item added to the Kentucky Fried Chicken menu in Canada. Basically it's two slices of their chicken acting as the "bun" part of a burger, and the filling consists of cheese and bacon. Heart attack, no?
Taken from KFC.com

Well, when I saw the KFC Double down commercials on T.V. I sorta knew I had to try it. It just looked so...interesting. YES it's fast food which is fattening and bad for us, but hey, it's not like I eat this day in and day out. I CAN DEAL WITH A FEW EXTRA CALORIES. For one day at least.

So I made a deal with my stomach, where I stop myself from trying this until after my last mid term/assignment is done with, because I get a sore throat when I eat too much fried food. The day of my last mid term came, and I begged my mom to buy it home for me for lunch.

Here I am, sitting in front of the takeout KFC box. It smells of KFC yummmmmm. "Ah San, it costs $6.99 for that thing." OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS. I just stared at my mom after she said that. Apparently the combo is $8 or $8.99. Holy shiz, this thing better taste like heaven.

So I open the box and my jaw completely dropped to the ground. The size of the top (and bottom) slice of chicken is the size of my palm, if not EVER SO SLIGHTLY bigger. WHAT THE EFF?! And I thought McDonald's was a rip off. Sheesh!

Tadaaaa.

About the same size as an onigiri I bought from supermarket...and the onigiri was 2 for $2.50!

I grabbed the knife to cut the Double Down in half. I laughed as I pictured my brother's horrified reaction to this thing. We were suppose to share one, because he said I'd never finish one huge Double Down. Hahaha...
Here's how this thing looks after I cut it in half.

Half of Double Down = 2 McNuggets + cheese + bacon bits

How does it taste?
You know what, I can't even tell you how long it took me to eat half of it. IT. IS. SO. DAMN. SALTY. I think something went wrong with the bacon stage, because the chicken tastes fine (surprisingly, it was not salty compared to usual KFC chicken) and the cheese tasted fine too I think, but the bacon grease sort of fused into the melty cheese, so I don't know if the cheese was actually salty on its own or not. Anywayyyyyy.
For every bite I took, I drank half a cup of water. And I'm telling you now, I usually don't drink much liquid when I eat. The saltiness and greasiness of the Double Down is just outrageous to me. Compared to this, the Big Mac is like, eating a salad or something. Now, keep in mind this is how it FELT like to me, so for all you critics out there, I don't know (or care) about which one is actually healthier.

Had to put the flyer with it. For the effect.

My verdict?
I'm glad I tried it. It completely wiped out any other fast food cravings I have. But I have only one message to all Canadians out there: DON'T EAT THIS THING. Let those cravings pass over you. Seriously. If you really want to try two chickens and some cheese/bacon, make your own, damnit! Unless you really want to of course, but don't say I haven't warned you...x____x

That's all for this review. Look forward to a post next time on a sexy gyaru inspired FOTD, which I am obviously too exhausted to post today, after taking like 50+ pictures for it lol.

See you~

woohoooo...SUMMERTIME!

YAY, finally done summer school which means more free time = a change of layout for the blog! So, I just quickly made a plain banner today and kinda altered the whole layout a bit cause the old stuff is just so UGLY!!! LOL. However, the new banner reminds me of Hello Kitty (does anyone agree with me?) but I didn't do it on purpose I swear. =P

Anyways, now that my summer course is over I have plans to find a job that is related to teaching, but its so hard!! I don't even know where to start looking for one because the sites that I've went to look at are all weird, or I'm just too dumb to navigate through them and search for what I need. T-T So I guess until I find one, I shall just RELAX!!! xD

Hmmm...I've can't think of what else to write about, so just to make this post not as boring, here's a bunch of random food photos from my phone (and ignore the bad quality part of them)!!! LMAO

TaeYang from Big Bang on 2%!!! :)

Yummy banana milk from the brand that Lee Min Ho (the male lead from Personal Taste) filmed a commerical for...loll :D

Green tea ice cream pancake!

Strawberry fantasy ice cream from Cold Stone @ Tim Hortons.

Starbuck's mocha frappuccino that I didn't like too much. -_-"

AND last but not least...

Strawberry ice cream waffle that was SUPER delicious! :D

Okay, time for tv...so I'll write more next time!
